Campbell Pleads Guilty in Sex Abuse Case, Gets Probation

Nathan Campbell, the former history teacher at the Episcopal School of Dallas who was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 16 year-old student, pled guilty to the sexual assault of a child, which is a felony charge. He submitted a confession with his signature detailing his actions.

The other charge originally levied against Mr. Campbell—improper student-teacher relationship—has been dropped. Mr. Campbell will receive 10 years of probation and lifetime registration as a sexual predator.

Following the sentencing, the victim—“Jane Doe II” as she was referred to during court proceedings—made a statement. Charla Aldous, her attorney in the civil case against Mr. Campbell and against the Episcopal School of Dallas, held her hand as she spoke. In the civil lawsuit, the jury awarded Miss Doe and her family approximately $9.2 million in damages—40% of which Mr. Campbell is responsible to pay.
